April 23

Well, I've been at a conference this week and haven't weighed in since Sunday...I did however stick to my diet while I was gone.

I took a small ice chest with me and took yogurt and some fajita chicken meat with me. I ate some oat bran or yogurt for breakfast each day, then for lunch I ate a piece of chicken breast they served and went to my room and ate yogurt. For dinner one night I ate a steak...cost me $31, but I stayed on the diet! Then last night they had a get together where they served drinks and appetizers...so I had diet Pepsi and the meat out of the appetizers, then again with the yogurt!

Today, I had yogurt for breakfast and stopped at a Mexican restaurant for lunch and ordered a side of fajita meat!

I feel good as far as diet...but now I must get some walking in each day.

We will see how I did for real in the morning when the scale tells the story!

Tomorrow I start alternating pure protein and protein/vegetable days. Tomorrow is a pv...I would really rather stay just pp, but probably not very healthy!

Saturday, April 20

So last night I was strong again, but did not appear to lose any weight...so today, I've eaten yogurt and chicken breast strips. Drinking water, diet soda, and coffee. Haven't done any oat bran today yet, so will have an oat bran galette this evening if I get hungry.

Anxious for tomorrow morning to see if I've dropped any lbs.

One more day accomplished!

I am so proud of myself. Two meals out yesterday and I kept my promises to myself. For lunch I ordered a taco salad and requested that the waitress bring it without the shell, cheese, salad...so she brought me a bowl of meat! Then at dinner I sat down to a preordered meal for the event. Immediately sent my dessert and salad back to the kitchen. I scraped the stuff off my chicken breast, ate it, sent the asparagus and rice back to kitchen! Epic willpower win!

So the scale this morning was 224.4!  Almost a total of 6 pounds in 3 days! So excited to be back n track again.  Side note...it got cold, the fertilizer plant in west exploded and I have not walked in two days...will try this afternoon!

Have another sit down dinner meeting out tonight...may take food with me! Also will be leaving Sunday for a conference...will need to take some yogurt, fat free coffee cream, and other essentials with me!

Today will be a challenge. I have a luncheon at work..will eat yogurt ahead of time and then I have a dinner at work as well...more yogurt. Hopefull I will be strong and pick out only the protein item to eat!

My Dukan Diet Journey - History and Goals

My name is Janet and I am 48 years old...closer to 49 if you want to know the truth. In June 2011, I began my Dukan diet journey. I started the diet with a weigh in at 246 lbs...my highest weight ever. I was depressed and determined to lose that weight. I was very faithful and followed the rules of the Dukan Diet; read the book daily to remind myself of the rules. I did not really have any problems following the diet. I did a 5 day attack phase and then went on to the cruise phase.  I walked daily, starting out with very short walks and building up to 3 miles per day without any problems whatsoever. I even adhered to the diet on my vacations. I posted my progress on my facebook page never admitting to a starting weight. The only admission I made was when I hit under 200 lbs. and posted about feeling "onederful"!

After being on the diet for almost six months, I had lost down to 190 lbs. I had gone from being in a size 24 to a size 16 (still in the 16W range, but still at 16).  I had quit taking my acid reflux prescription and my restless leg prescription...did not need them anymore. Excitement was hovering all over me. Then came Thanksgiving and Christmas. I told myself I could splurge a little and enjoy the holidays and get back on track after Christmas...Boy was I wrong!

Slowly but surely the weight has come back. I cried when I hit 200 lbs again, but I still did not go back to my diet...It is now April 2013, approximately 1 1/2 years since I quit Dukaning... and yesterday I weighed in at 230 lbs. Yuck, yuck, yuck!!! And I am back taking my prescriptions...

I am 5'5 ish and ready to be a size 14. That means that I have to be strong and steadfast in my determination to do this again and to stick with it even if a holiday happens!

Yesterday I started the attack phase again...all protein, low fat, no carbs. This morning I weighed in at 228.2 lbs. PROGRESS!!!

It is now noon today, and so far I've eaten a greek yogurt (fat free) and some coffee and some tea. For lunch I will be eating some beef fajita meet and another yogurt.

Some things I must say from my previous experience:
1. Make sure I eat a variety of food (or at least fix my chicken different ways). I cannot stand the thought of eating another bite of rotisserie chicken from the grocery store.
2. Make time to cook for myself. I am a very busy woman and often end up going to the grocery store at lunch to pick up something dukan friendly (which is usually rotisserie chicken) and I really need to prepare ahead of time.
3. Keep walking. Don't allow my fatigue from work to keep me from walking when I get home. I always feel better when I walk.

My goal is to be less than 200 lbs again by this Christmas! Shorter term I want to lose 10 lbs by June! Let's see how I do...

more tomorrow!
